Finding Your Way
A warm welcome and thank you for visiting my website. Maybe you've been thinking about therapy for a while, or perhaps something's happened recently that's made everything feel too much. Whatever's brought you here, I'm glad you've taken this step.
You might be feeling uncertain about whether therapy's right for you. That's completely normal. What I can tell you is this: you deserve support, and there's no 'right' way to feel when you're struggling.
The name Embright comes from old English, meaning 'to illuminate'. That's what therapy offers: a way to shed light on what's been kept in the shadows, to see yourself more clearly, and to find your path forward.

I'm Emma Martin, a BACP registered and UKCP fully accredited psychotherapist working in St Albans and online. My practice is grounded in an integrative approach, which means I draw on different therapeutic models and tailor my approach to what works best for you. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, bereavement, health anxiety, or work-related stress, we can work through it together.
I work with adults seeking both short-term and long-term support. Some people come for a few sessions to work through a specific issue. Others stay longer, using therapy as a space to explore deeper patterns and find lasting change. There's no expectation either way. We'll move at your pace.
Therapy isn't about me telling you what to do. Instead, it's a space where you can speak freely without judgement, explore what's going on beneath the surface, and start to understand yourself better.
As your therapist, I'm here to listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and walk alongside you as you find your way forward. Together, we can create clarity where there's confusion, and help you to reconnect with what matters most to you.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes it's the big, life-changing things like bereavement, relationship breakdowns, or ongoing depression and anxiety that makes each day feel like a battle. At other times, it's quieter but no less valid. Maybe you're struggling with work stress, feeling disconnected from yourself, or can't shake a persistent worry about your health.
I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation where we can talk about what's brought you to therapy, answer any questions you might have, and see if we're a good fit. There's no obligation and no expectation. It's simply a chance to start the conversation.
My practice is located in central St Albans, making it easily accessible by train, bus, or car. St Albans station is just a short walk away, with regular services to London (around 20 minutes) and other surrounding areas. There are good bus links throughout the area, and parking is available nearby.
I work with clients from across Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas. Whether you're based in St Albans itself or coming from nearby towns like Harpenden, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Radlett, Wheathampstead, Redbourn, London Colney, Potters Bar, Hitchin, Stevenage, Luton, or even parts of North London such as Barnet, the practice is well connected and straightforward to reach.
For those who prefer the convenience of online therapy, I offer secure video sessions that you can attend from the comfort of your own home.
Online therapy means I can also support people further afield across the UK.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you take the first step towards the support you deserve.
